Corinna's Art – Responsive E-Commerce Website

Project Overview

Corinna’s Art is an e-commerce website (designed using WordPress) that showcased Corinna’s acrylic paintings, highlighting animals and nature. The goal was to create a simple, user-friendly platform that allows visitors to explore and purchase artwork while also offering personalized commissions. The design keeps the focus on the paintings, providing a clean layout that lets the artwork speak for itself. Whether browsing the gallery or requesting a custom piece, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in Corinna’s world of acrylic art.

my Role

I was the sole designer on this project and was responsible for:
- UX/UI design, including wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes
- Website layout and visual design
- E-commerce functionality and user flow
- Collaboration with the owner to align the design with the brand vision

Process and Challenges

The design process involved close collaboration with Corinna to translate her artistic vision into a functional e-commerce platform. Wireframing and iteration played a key role, ensuring the website was both visually appealing and easy to navigate. Regular feedback helped refine the layout and structure, keeping the focus on the artwork.

One challenge was balancing aesthetics with usability—making sure the site felt like an art gallery while remaining intuitive for visitors looking to browse and purchase. Another was optimizing image quality to showcase the paintings in high detail without slowing down the site. Through testing and adjustments, the final design provided a seamless experience that highlighted Corinna’s work while keeping navigation simple and accessible.

Reflection & Takeaways

This project reinforced the importance of designing with the artist’s vision in mind while ensuring a seamless user experience. I learned how to balance aesthetics and functionality, creating a platform that highlights artwork without overwhelming visitors. If I were to revisit this project, I would incorporate UX research to better understand the target audience and refine the e-commerce experience based on user feedback. Overall, this experience deepened my understanding of building visually engaging yet practical online stores.

Next Steps

If revisiting this project, I would focus on enhancing the user experience by incorporating UX research, usability testing, and refining the purchasing process. Adding features like filtering options or a more interactive gallery could further improve navigation and engagement. While this project has ended, the experience gained will inform future e-commerce and portfolio site designs.
